Solid RPG for your PPC
A reviewer
from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, May 5, 2007
If you're looking for a good RPG series for your PPC, you'll find what you're looking for in Arvale.
In this installment, the story is fun and entertaining and actually fairly original. The graphics are quite good and no doubt everyone here will sing it's praises for hours on end. So we'll cut straight to the bad stuff.
So... What's wrong with Arvale 2?
1) You can't save in the middle of a cut scene or a fight. This inhibits the ability to save and quit at any time.
2) You can't load in the middle of a cut scene or a fight. This makes things annoying in the event that you wish to backout.
So what's the big deal with these 2 points? Not much... Unless you are a very busy and on the go, then having the game being stuck in a certain place can be quite a hassle.
Despite this though, I can still highly recommend this game.

Does this game need any more great reviews? YES!!!!!!

I enjoyed this game from start to finish!
I''m usually not into playing a game more than once, but once I found out there was more than one path through the game with one ending, I wanted to make sure I did them all.
Great controls, funny, good story and very intuitive.
All around great game! You can''t go wrong with this game!

An absorbing and entertaining game, crammed onto your PDA
alextfish
from Cambridge, England, September 21, 2005
After playing and loving Arvale 1: Journey of Illusion, I had high expectations of this the sequel. But this game impressed me! PDAMill have kept almost all the strengths of the original Arvale and expanded it in several excellent directions. You control an Indiana Jones-style explorer as he discovers the secrets held in temples of an ancient civilization. The epic RPG feel is still very much present, but this time rather than hearing about a plot spanning centuries, you get to actually travel in time (hence the title).
The combat system of the first game is still here, with its rock-scissors-paper arrangement of three weapon classes and three magical elements, but made more challenging by making you have to figure out then remember what different enemies are strong or weak against. The puzzles in the dungeons, which were rather simple in Arvale 1, are more involved and intricate. The trademark humour is still there in abundance: the protagonist likes to play drumbeats on barrels. And like Arvale 1, he talks to wheelbarrows... but now they talk back!
There are several new features making gameplay less repetitive such as auto-heal and auto-equip. The graphics have been enhanced with things like weather effects, although they''re sometimes a little dark on my screen. And the superb atmospheric music from Jaybot is back. Overall, this title comes highly recommended, as one of the absolute best games I''ve played on my Pocket PC.
