Fast; interface is intuitive, cluttered; mediocre manual; poor GPS; support non-existent

I tried Route Europe 3.0 in Germany on a Palm IIIxe with a Delorme TripMate GPS.
Interface design is very intuitively obvious. It routed trips very fast. It pushes the
Palm to the limits -- with numerous mis-cues as one stylus action is mistaken for
another. "Manual" consists of a very incomplete 6 page PDF. Useless for navigation.
GPS fixes were *SLOW* if it could get them at all. Frequently could not get a fix when
another Palm package could see 8-12 satellites. When it could get a fix, it was as
much as a kilometer off from my known location. Attempts to verify whether I was
using the software correctly by contacting the company via e-mail were unsuccessful.
They only responded once, and did not answer my initial questions, or even respond
to subsequent ones.
Route Europe 3.0 is an intriguing demonstration of what _might_ be done on a Palm
Pilot; however, in practice it did not function in a useful way. FOR ME THE PRODUCT
WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF $50 + S&H. I WOULD NOT BUY IT. If the company that
produces it were at all responsive I might have a totally different opinion. Guess we'll
never know.

É um bom programa mas é pena é não estar actualizado. Eu gostaria de saber se este programa pode ser actualizado, se sim, quando e como posso a obter. Gostaria de ser informado.

Great navigator

The developer Palmtop gets high marks for service. When I first downloaded the program I was having trouble getting it loaded onto my palm (operator error I suspect). I emailed Palmtop and asked for help - they promptly mailed me a disk.
I used this program to guide me from Barcelona Spain to Craponne France and back. I had plenty of time so I opted to get off the main highways and take backroads. This program was awesome. Once I learned how to use it I was never lost.
I suppose it is even better with the GPS hookup but I am not sure it is necessary.
